Mathematics Department
Many researchers and specialized teachers in the fields of Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics work in the department. All of them participate in the following main related tasks:
The educational process at HIAST in :
- It includes basic mathematics curricula in the basic preparation stage ( first and second years)in addition to the engineering qualification curricula (third, fourth and fifth years).
- The teaching works at the department have a special importance due to the nature of the subjects and the size of the available courses which is equivalent to approximately one thousand teaching hours per year.
Projects and studies:
- Participate with the rest of the departments at HIAST to implement development projects in joint work teams and conduct studies that are related to applied mathematical methods.
External cooperation:
Meeting the external needs for consultations, studies and teaching as an implementation of the cooperation between HIAST and external parties (Damascus university, Ministry of education….etc).The scientific interests within the department are distributed according to the specializations of the employees. the interests include:
- Coding theory.
- Number theory algorithms.
- Numerical analysis and its applications.
- Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics
